Things to know...
Gear
We have always been at the cutting edge and have found other mastering studios often follow our lead in their choice of mastering equipment.
We are constantly updating software and maintain the best Class A analogue gear available.
While the gear is integral to the final sound - without doubt - the most important elements are the E’s: Ears and Experience.
File Formats
We accept most files formats. WAV, AIFF, SD 2. 16bit and 24bit. Sample rates up to 192khz..
When contacting us to make a booking we will discuss with you what file formats are best and how to prepare your files to ensure the session goes smoothly and efficiently.
We encourage you to discuss your project ahead of making a booking so we can provide some tips and tricks to enable us to achieve the best results for you.
We also accept DAT, MiniDisk and Audio CD.
(Out of town, Interstate and international clients, please call us to discuss online file delivery/retrieval).
Preparing Your Mixes
As a general rule it’s best to provide your mixes without any mix buss compression/eq/processing etc. Of course there’s always exceptions to every rule so if in any doubt bounce your mixes with and without the processing leaving a few db of headroom. Providing split mixes and alternate mixes can often be quite helpful. For example a version of the mix with the vocal up 1db and a version down 1db. Or a backing mix (no vocal) with the vocal only mix . We are always happy to provide advice or answer any mixing and mastering questions you may have.
Reference CDs
If you have a reference - track or CD - feel free to bring it to the session. We can do direct A/B comparisons between your mastered mix and your reference. This is a good idea for a number of reasons but mainly provides a sonic representation of what you are aspiring to.
At the completion of your session we encourage and recommend you leave with a reference cd of your own to assess and ensure you are completely satisfied with how your music sounds in the “real world”. We aim to exceed your expectations each and every time. We welcome and encourage feedback.
Rates
We offer competitive rates and flexible ways of working within your budget - while remaining committed to providing a dedicated and professional service.
We were the first CD mastering facility to offer a special rate for independent artists and continue to do so.
We understand every project is unique. We look forward to hearing from you and discussing your upcoming project.
Bookings
It’s always best to book your session well in advance. This will ensure your manufacturing deadline is met and your preferred session time is available.
